Fixed-price transfer to Dover Eastern Docks cruise terminal. ~45 miles via A21 and M20. P&O, MSC, DFDS and all cruise lines. Ship departure tracked. 24/7.
Dover Cruise Port is one of the UK's most significant advantages for passengers living in Kent. For travellers based in Langton Green and Tunbridge Wells, Dover is the closest major cruise departure point in the country — closer than Southampton by nearly 50 miles — and the fact that it handles P&O Cruises, MSC Cruises, DFDS Seaways and numerous other lines makes it a genuinely useful port of embarkation for a huge range of itineraries.
The Eastern Docks cruise terminal at Dover is specifically built for cruise passengers, separate from the lorry and car ferry operations at the Western Docks. Getting to the right part of the port with the right amount of luggage and arriving before the check-in cutoff requires a driver who understands the port layout — not just someone following a generic sat-nav to "Dover Docks."
Dover has two distinct dock areas that confuse many first-time cruise passengers. The Western Docks handle cross-Channel ferry traffic — the P&O and DFDS car ferries to Calais and Dunkirk. The Eastern Docks is where the cruise terminal is located. These are entirely separate road approaches and we always head directly to the Eastern Docks cruise terminal, not the Western ferry entrance.
Within the Eastern Docks, P&O Cruises and MSC typically use specific berths that we know in advance. For large cruise ships you will be directed to the correct berth by port marshals, but arriving at the right docks entrance first means no time wasted navigating a busy port with heavy luggage.
The journey to Dover from Langton Green is one of our more pleasant routes. The A21 south from Tunbridge Wells towards Flimwell, then joining the A21 towards Hastings before picking up the A20 Folkestone road is the most direct approach. Alternatively, the M20 from junction 10 at Ashford runs parallel to the coast and is usually faster for morning departures when the A20 through Folkestone sees holiday traffic in summer.
The final approach to Dover port is via the A20 dual carriageway through the Western Heights and directly into the Eastern Docks road system. This last section sees significant lorry traffic at all hours given Dover's role as a freight port — we time our approach to avoid the worst of the HGV queuing, which can extend up the A20 during peak freight periods.
Return cruise transfers from Dover have their own specific challenges. Ships arrive at a berth, passengers disembark over a 2–4 hour window depending on the ship's size and your disembarkation group, and the Eastern Docks can be very busy on turnaround days with two operations happening simultaneously — one ship's passengers leaving while another boards.
We track your ship's arrival through marine tracking and liaise with you on your expected disembarkation time based on your allocated group. Your driver will be waiting at the arrivals area of the terminal — you do not have to wait at the roadside with six suitcases hoping your taxi appears.
Dover cruise tip: P&O and MSC both offer luggage collection from your cabin the night before disembarkation. If you use this service, your bags arrive in the baggage hall on wheels — our driver helps you with the final load into the vehicle. Don't try to manage six suitcases, two people and a port exit road on your own at 8am after a two-week cruise.
Approximately £90–£110 for a standard saloon at our fixed from-£90 rate. For groups with large volumes of cruise luggage, we may recommend an estate or MPV at a confirmed price. Your exact fare is given when you book.
Cruise passengers use the Eastern Docks cruise terminal, not the Western Docks (which handle car ferries to France). We always drive directly to the Eastern Docks. Within the terminal, you'll be directed to your cruise line's specific berth by port staff on arrival.
Yes. We track your ship's arrival and work with you on your disembarkation group timing. Your driver will be at the Eastern Docks arrivals area when you come through. Disembarkation days at Dover can be very busy — having a driver waiting means you don't wait at the roadside with all your luggage.
Tell us your passenger count and luggage volumes when booking and we'll send the right vehicle. A saloon handles 2–3 large suitcases plus hand luggage. An estate handles 4–5 large cases. An MPV is ideal for groups with 6+ large suitcases. We accommodate everything — no luggage charge.
Fixed price. Eastern Docks direct. All cruise lines. Return pickups available. 24/7 from Langton Green.
